For 35 years, Dr. Michael J. Kaplan has served his patients with trusted expertise in sports medicine, specializing in knee and shoulder injuries, as well as complex joint replacements. He is passionate about helping patients improve their mobility and strength and getting them back to doing what they love.

After earning his medical degree and completing his residency at the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Dr. Kaplan went on to earn his fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute.


As a fellow of both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, Dr. Kaplan is committed to the advancement of his field - and it shows. He has been recognized as a
Top Doctor in Connecticut by Connecticut Magazine, and has also served as Chief Medical Correspondent for ESPN.


Considered as a pioneer in orthopedic biomechanics, Dr. Kaplan helps colleagues in his field develop durable,
bio-friendly prostheses aimed to help his patients - and others - return to active living.


Outside of the operating room, he serves as Academic Program Chairman of the Connecticut Orthopaedic Society, Professor at Quinnipiac University School of Medicine, and a member of the Connecticut Workers’ Compensation Executive Board.
